世俗的な休日 : The heroes are Paul Bogle, a Baptist deacon who was executed in 1865 for leading a protest march; George William Gordon, who took part in Bogle's efforts and also was executed; independence advocate Norman Manley; Sir Alexander Bustamante, who advocated for Jamaica's independence and became its first prime minister on its independence in 1962; Marcus Garvey, who preached the unification of people of African heritage; Nanny, an 18th-century escaped female slave with no last name, who led a rebellion against the British; and Samuel Sharpe, who led another rebellion in 1831 that helped lead to the emancipation of black Jamaicans from slavery.
